Ingredients to make wheat kara kuzhipaniyaram

  • wheat flour - 1 cup
  • rava/ sooji 1/2 cup
  • thick yogurt 1/2 cup
  • onion 1 big
  • mustard 1 tsp
  • jeera 1 tsp
  • baking soda 1/2 tsp (or) eno fruit salt 1 tsp
  • ginger 1/2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • salt 1/2 tsp
  • water as needed
  • few curry leaves
  • green chillies 2 (chopped finely )

How to make wheat kara kuzhipaniyaram

  1. Add flour, rava, curd and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add enough water to form a thick batter and keep aside.
  3. Now for tempering heat oil in a pan.
  4. Once the oil is heated, add mustard and jeera.
  5. After they splutter, add onions, curry leaves, green chilles and ginger and saute.
  6. Saute for 2 minutes and add to the batter.
  7. Now add the baking soda or eno fruit salt and mix well.
  8. Heat the kuzhipaniyara pan and add a spoon of the batter.
  9. Wait for one side to brown and then flip it to cook the other side.
  10. Once both sides are well cooked remove and serve with any chutney.

My Tip:

The batter should be thick like idli batter. Cook on low fire for perfect paniyaram. It also tastes good with ketchup.
