ABOUT Prawns Masala RECIPE

This is an easy way to make prawns and really tasty one.This will go well with kubus and rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 kg Prawns
  2. 1 big Onion
  3. 10 to 15 Shallots
  4. 1 big Tomato
  5. 5 cloves Garlic
  6. 1 medium piece Ginger
  7. 1 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  8. 1 tsp Chilly powder
  9. 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
  10. 1/2 tsp Fennel seeds powder
  11. 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  12. 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
  13. 1/2 tsp Tamarind pulp
  14. 1/2 to 3/4 cup Thick coconut milk
  15. Salt as per taste
  16. For Tempering:
  17. Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
  18. Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  19. Fenugreek Seeds - 1 tsp
  20. Curry Leaves 4 - 5

Instructions

  1. Clean the prawns and keep aside. In a kadai pour 2 tbsp oil and splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Add curry leaves. Add the sliced onions and shallots and saute till light brown.
  2. Add the finely chopped ginger and garlic. Saute well and add all the dry powders and salt. When the raw smell goes away add the sliced tomato. When the tomatoes are done, add the tamarind pulp and coconut milk.
  3. Let it boil for a minute. Add the cleaned prawns to the masala and mix well. Let the prawns get cooked in the masala. If there is more gravy put it on medium heat and let the masala become dry or semi dry (as per your wish).
  4. Add more curry leaves and if you need to make it more spicy sprinkle some more pepper powder. Serve hot with chapattis, kubus or rice.
