Sooji upma is a popular breakfast dish in India. You can serve as evening snack also. It is nutritious, tasty and very easy to make at home.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. sooji 1 bowl
  2. oil 2 tbsp
  3. salt to taste
  4. Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  5. tomato Ketchup 1 Tbsp
  6. chilli sauce 1 tbsp
  7. Grated ginger 1 tsp
  8. Minced garlic 1 tsp
  9. Chopped onion 1
  10. Chopped carrot 1
  11. Chopped beans 1/2 cup
  12. Chopped capsicum 1
  13. Chopped tomato 1
  14. Green chillies 3-4 pcs
  15. Urad daal 1 tbsp
  16. Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  17. Fried peanuts 10-15 pcs
  18. Curry leaves (optional)
  19. Pinch of hing
  20. coriander leaves


  1. Chopped all the veggies and keep aside.
  2. Heat a pan put oil then add Mustard seeds when it splutters put hing, minced garlic, grated ginger, green chillies urad dal, curry leaves.
  3. Then add chopped onions saute them after a min add all chopped veggies except tomato and saute well.
  4. After 2min add tomatoes in it and stir. Now add salt and cover the lid for a minute.
  5. Now add sooji and stir continuously in low flame.
  6. When you see the sooji will roast well then add again salt, black pepper powder, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce and add half cup water and mix well.
  7. Now garnish with fried peanuts & coriander leaves. Serve hot in the breakfast or in evening snack.
