ABOUT Chicken Souvlaki With Tzatziki RECIPE

A popular Greek appetizer or fast food in which Chicken breast at cut in almost 1″ inch sized pieces and marinated with Greek flavors, later skewered and cooked. Chicken Souvlaki is typically served with flat bread where they are filled with lettuce, some tomatoes , salad, and wrapped with Tzatziki. Tzatziki is again a flavorful dip made with Greek yogurt and grated Cucumber. An ideal condiment for wraps and rolls.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500 gms chicken breast cut into 1 inch pieces
  2. 2 tbsp olive oil
  3. 4 tbsp lemon juice
  4. 4 Cloves garlic, minced
  5. 2 tbsp oregano
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 1 tsp black pepper powder
  8. For making Tzatziki :
  9. 2 cucumber, peeled, grated & squeezed
  10. 1.5 cup plain Greek yogurt
  11. 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  12. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  13. 1 clove garlic , minced
  14. 1 tbsp olive oil
  15. Salt to taste
  16. 1/2 tsp Black pepper, crushed

Instructions

  1. Mix chicken and marinade in a bowl and keep aside to marinate for at least 3 hours to overnight.
  2. Take marinated chicken pieces and thread into 2-3 skewers or more
  3. Heat some oil in a large skillet over high heat and place skewers on it for 3 minutes on each side, or until cooked . You can even barbeque it.
  4. Serve Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki, flatbreads, lettuce/cabbage and tossed salad.
  5. How to make Tzatziki : Peel and cut the sides of cucumber, coarsely grate it, squeeze the grated cucumber well and discard the water. Place the squeezed cucumber in a bowl and add remaining ingredients and mix well.
  6. Keep aside for at least 15-20 minutes for the flavors to blend.
