ABOUT Bhappa Aloo RECIPE

A Bengali potato dish made in yogurt and spices and slow cooked to enhance the flavors.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 4 potatoes boiled
  2. 1 teaspoon panchporan spice-jeera saunf meethi mustard kalau
  3. 2 tablespoon hung curd
  4. 2 dry red chilli
  5. 1 green chilli
  6. 2 teaspoon mustard paste
  7. 1 tablespoon coconut dessicated
  8. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  9. 2 teaspoon mustard oil
  10. lime juice to taste
  11. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut the potatoes in s,mall cubes . Add hung curd ,mustard paste,turmeric powder,salt ,coconut and green chilli in a blender and make a paste using a dash of water.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add the panch phoran spice.Add dry red chilli and potatoes cubes.
  3. Mix well and add the curd coconut paste.Stir and cook covered on simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat add lime juice and serve hot.
