Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 6 to 7 medium sized apples, peeled, cored and diced
  2. 2 tablespoons ghee or butter or oil
  3. 1 tablespoon water
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla powder or 2 tsp vanilla extract
  5. 1 tablespoons sugar, add more if the apples are less sweet
  6. 1 tablespoon blanched almondspeeled & halved or chopped
  7. 1 tablespoon blanched pistachiospeeled & halved or chopped

  2. heat the ghee in a kadai or saucepan and add the apples to it.

  4. fry the apples for 4-5 minutes stirring often till they soften. when they have become soft, add 1 tbsp water.

  6. now add the sugar. the recipe called for 1 and a half cup sugar
  7. 4
  8.  i also could not resist adding vanilla powder to it.

  10. increase the heat to medium and continue to cook the halwa, stirring often
  11. 6
  12. remove the apple halwa on a greased thali or plate and form into 1 inch thick layer square.

  14. decorate it with some halved almonds and pistachois.

  16. when cooled cut into squares or diagonal shaped halwa. serve cool or warm
