ABOUT Khichidi with Salad. RECIPE

Khichidi, a dish which is mostly made in India, Pakistan, Nepal & Bangladesh. It is made of rice & mostly people love to eat it in lunch & dinner times.. It is a simple dish & it is made in different style in each state. Similarly I wanted to share my way of making & hope so y'all like it!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice- 1 full glass
  2. Tuar Dal- half cup
  3. Mustard seeds- 1 spoon
  4. Cumin seeds- 3/4th spoon
  5. Onion- 1 & half piece
  6. Chillies- 3-4 pieces
  7. Curry leaves- 1-2 leaves
  8. Coriander leaves
  9. Garam Masala powder ( cloves-3, cinnamon-1 cardamom-2 saajeera- 3/4th spoon)
  10. Coriander powder- 1 spoon
  11. Ginger garlic paste- 1 spoon
  12. Turmeric- 1/4 or more than 1/4 & less than half spoon.
  13. Salt- 1 & half spoon. Or according to your taste & comfort.
  14. Water- 3 glasses
  15. Oil- according to quantity of vegetables used.

Instructions

  1. Take a pressure cooker & add oil in it. Keep it in medium flame & wait until oil gets heated. These are the ingredients which I'm using. You can see in the pic.
  2. Add Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, onion slices, curry leaves & chillies into oil & keep it until the onion loose its rawness & turn into lil orange colour. Do this in a medium flame. As shown in pic.
  3. After the onion & stuff gets well roasted, add Garam Masala powder, ginger garlic paste & Coriander powder into the cooker & mix it properly so that the spices get mixed with onion & stuff. Add little turmeric & mix the stuff. Let it cook for 3-4min.
  4. Add 3 glasses of water into cooker & mix it properly.
  5. Take 1 glass of rice & half cup of Tuar dal into a vessel & wash it properly for 2 times.. So the complete 1 & half glass of rice & dal can serve for 3-4 people. Add 3 glasses of water. For 1.5 glass of rice we require 3 glasses of water.
  6. Now add the rice & dal into cooker & mix it well
  7. Close the cooker lid & keep it in medium flame. Cook it for 3-4 whistles in a medium flame. After 4 whistles, don't open the whistle & lid immediately.. Leave it for 10 min aside in a cool place until the pressure & heat inside the cooker escapes. If you open the lid immediately after the whistles, then rice will not be cooked properly..
  8. After 10-15min, open the lid & hence the rice looks in this way.
  9. Serve it wid salad & enjoy the Khichidi.. Follow the procedure which I've shown & I'm sure you gonna love this style of Khichidi. Thanking you & hoping for the best results from you. Please do rate & upload the pics as you prepare..
