ABOUT Pumpkin kalasu RECIPE

This is south canara style curry which is spicy and a little sweet. My kids love this a lot.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Pumpkin 1/2
  2. White Channa 1 cup
  3. Jaggery a size of cricket ball
  4. Salt 1 table spoon on base of your taste
  5. for masala cumin seeds / jeera 1/2 spoon
  6. 2 Red chilly
  7. Turmeric powder 1/4spoon
  8. Coconut small 1
  9. For temper. ..coconut oil 1 table spoon
  10. Mustard 1/2 spoon
  11. Red chilly 1
  12. curry leaves 1 string

Instructions

  1. Take white Channa . soak in water overnight
  2. Cut pumpkin into half . use the half. Remove the inner soft layer and seeds . cut into small pieces
  3. Put in vessel ,add jaggery salt soaked Channa and water altogether. Let it be boil nearly 25 minutes.
  4. Now we have to make the masala that includes grated coconut. Jeera . red chilly and turmeric powder
  5. Grind nicely. .and put masala into boiled veggie . don't put more water . it is semi solid
  6. Let it be boil on a medium flame for 5 minutes.
  7. Now heat some oil in a pan, add red chilly and mustard seeds, let this splutter and then add curry leaves, put this into the curry, stir and serve.
