Ingredients to make Stuffed Karela (Bitter Gourd) Fry

  • Bitter gourd (karela): 4 pieces (big size)
  • gram flour (Besan): ½ cup
  • oil: 1/2 tablespoon (per Karela)
  • salt: to taste
  • For the filling:
  • coconut (grated): 1cup
  • mustard seeds: 5 tbsp
  • poppy seeds: 5 tbsp
  • sugar: 1/4 teaspoon
  • salt: to taste

How to make Stuffed Karela (Bitter Gourd) Fry

  1. Take all the ingredients for filling together; make a paste from these and keep aside.
  2. Boil the bitter gourds well.
  3. Cut the bitter gourds horizontally in 2 parts; and Remove the seeds from both parts.
  4. Now, Stuff the bitter gourds with the paste.
  5. Make dough with the ½ cup gram flour and salt; and seal the karelas.
  6. Heat a fry pan; put 1/2 tablespoon oil at a time in it and Shallow fry the Karelas one by one.
  7. Cut the Karelas in 2 pieces and serve with hot Rice.
