Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Karela/bitter gourd - 250 gms
  2. Chopped onion - 2
  3. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  4. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
  5. amchur powder - 1 tsp
  6. Green chilly - 2
  7. Cumin seeds - a pinch
  8. Oil - 2 tbsp
  9. Salt - to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the karela/bitter gourd.
  2. Cut the edges of the karela on both sides
  3. Now cut them length wise from one side
  4. Soak karela in salted water for half an hour.
  5. Heat oil in a pan.
  6. Add cumin seeds to crackle.
  7. Add karela and simmer for few mins.
  8. Add chopped onion,coriander powder,turmeric powder and green chilly.
  9. Stir well and saute for 8 - 10 mins till karela gets soft.
  10. Cook covered for 4 - 5 mins in simmer.
  11. Now add salt and amchur powder.
  12. Serve hot khatte karele with chapatis or rice.
