ABOUT Jaggery Mulled Wine RECIPE

Perfect for the Christmas season, mulled wine is full of spicy, sweet, fruity and fresh flavours. People who enjoy a red wine will particularly love this.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 bottle (750 ml) - Port wine (or red wine)
  2. ½ pcs. Orange sliced
  3. ĵ cup Gin
  4. ½ Vanilla Pod
  5. 5-6 pcs. cloves
  6. 2 tablespoon Jaggery
  7. 2 pcs. Cinnamon sticks
  8. 2 pcs. Star anise
  9. 2 pcs. Bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Melt the jaggery in 100 ml of wine on medium heat Add all the spices to the wine. Cook on low flame for 10 minutes. Then add the sliced oranges.
  2. Flambé the gin, and add it to the wine. After 2 minutes take it off the gas and put off the flambé. This step is optional, if you choose not to flambé you can add the gin directly.
  3. Now pour rest of the wine into the spiced wine. Let it cook on low flame for 20 minutes.
  4. Preferably leave this wine soaked overnight with spices and serve it hot next day. Or you can immediately serve it hot in mugs.
