Aloo Gobhi

Ingredients to make Aloo Gobhi

  • 1 1/2 cup fresh cauliflower (gobhi) small florets
  • 3-4 medium sized potatoes peeled and quartered
  • 2 medium sizzed onions finely chopped
  • puree of 4 tomatoes
  • 2 green chillies slit
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • salt acc. To taste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 -3 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • some coriander leaves chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mango powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp garam masala

How to make Aloo Gobhi

  1. Heat oil in a deep pan.Add chopped onions and fry until golden brown.Now add coriander powder,grated ginger and turmeric powder and stir.
  2. Add potatoes and gobhi florets in the same pan.Mix them so that a layer of spices gets coated on the gobhi and potatoes.
  3. Let cook for 5-6 minutes on medium flame, stirring all the time to avoid burning.Now add tomato puree, dry mango powder, garam masala, salt, red chilly powder and green chillies.
  4. Stir and add water and cover the lid for 10-15 minutes on slow flame, till both gobhi and potatoes are tender and all water has evaporated.
  5. Garnish with some coriander leaves and black pepper and serve piping hot.
