These cheese and bell pepper scones are a melt-in-the-mouth starter!

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 red bell peppers
  2. 1 cup maida
  3. ¼ cup buttermilk
  4. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  5. 1 tablespoon icing sugar
  6. ½ teaspoon sugar, granulated
  7. ¼ tablespoon baking powder
  8. 1 tablespoon butter (room temperature)
  9. 2 tablespoons cheese
  10. 2 – 3 basil leaves, finely chopped


  1. Apply olive oil on the bell peppers with a brush and put them on the gas for roasting.
  2. In a large bowl, add maida, icing sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder and butter and mix them well.
  3. Chop the roasted bell peppers and add them to the mixture.
  4. Next, add finely chopped basil leaves and cheese. Add buttermilk to make a smooth and soft dough.
  5. Roll the dough like a large pancake and place in a skillet greased with olive oil and bake for 10 – 12 minutes by covering the skillet with a lid
  6. Cut the scone into pieces. Garnish with bell pepper and olive oil, basil leaves, cheese and melted butter and serve.
