A lip smacking chat made from green peas peel

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Green pea pod (fresh and firm) 100 gram
  2. Besan / chickpea flour 1/4 cup
  3. Rice flour 1/4 cup
  4. Red chili powder 1/4 teaspoon
  5. Turmeric powder 1 pinch
  6. Curd 4 tablespoon
  7. Onion (chopped) 2 tablespoon
  8. Coriander leaves (chopped) 2 teaspoon
  9. Green chili (chopped) 1 teaspoon
  10. Chat masala 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Roasted cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon
  12. Green chutney 1 tablespoon
  13. Tamarind chutney 1 tablespoon
  14. Sev as needed
  15. Salt as needed
  16. Water as needed
  17. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Wash the green pea pods.
  2. Take out the peas from the pods in a bowl and keep aside.
  3. Now separate the pod into two halves lengthwise.
  4. Hold half part of the pod lengthwise in such a way that the inner side of the pod will be facing you.
  5. Gently break a little portion from tip towards you and pull it down.
  6. A thin tough membrane will come out.
  7. If it breaks in the middle, then try the same method from tip of the other end.
  8. Discard those tough inner membranes.
  9. Collect all the peels, cut into halves and keep aside.
  10. Take besan and rice flour in a bowl.
  11. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder and mix well.
  12. Add water little by little to get a dropping consistency of the batter.
  13. It should not be too thick or thin.
  14. Heat oil in a deep pan.
  15. First dip each peel in the batter and then drop in hot oil.
  16. Cook till a light brown color and drain on an absorbent paper.
  17. In a serving platter, first put some fried peels.
  18. Then top them with some curd, chopped onion, chopped green chilies, chopped coriander leaves, chat masala, salt, roasted cumin powder, green chutney, tamarind chutney and finally sprinkle some sev.
  19. Serve immediately !
