This authentic prawn curry dish is absolutely lip smacking good and tastes best when eaten alongside rice.

Manglorean prawn curry

Ingredients to make Manglorean prawn curry

  • 500 grams prawn (medium sized)
  • 100 grams coconut, grated
  • 3 tsp tamarind extract
  • 6 dried red chillies
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • salt to taste

How to make Manglorean prawn curry

  1. Grind the following ingredients, red chillies, grated coconut, tamarind extract together to form a smooth paste. Keep it aside.
  2. Heat the coconut oil in a pan, once the oil is hot, add the hing and turmeric powder.
  3. Gently put the prawns into the pan. Saute and cook them for 30-40 seconds while stirring and flipping them.
  4. Now add the grounded paste, salt to taste and two cups of water. Cook this for 2-3 minutes on a low flame.
  5. Serve hot alongside freshly cooked rice.
