ABOUT My mummy style Tomato Gojju/ Tomato chutney RECIPE

Tomato Gojju from Karnataka is a delectable sour, spicy and sweet curry best had with steamed rice. Also called Tomato chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 Finely chopped Tomatoes
  2. 4 green chilly
  3. 1 finely chopped onion
  4. Small piece of ginger finely chopped
  5. 5 garlic cloves
  6. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  7. 1 tsp urad dal
  8. Pinch of hing
  9. Little jaggery
  10. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  11. 1 spoon chilli powder
  12. curry leaves
  13. Finely chopped coriander leaves
  14. Little water maybe 1/4 cup
  15. Oil - 2 tbsp
  16. Salt for taste

Instructions

  1. In a wok add oil, after heated add mustard seeds, urad dal, hing, green chilli, finely chopped ginger, hand smashed garlic, curry leaves and mix well and fry for some seconds.
  2. Now add finely chopped onion, little salt and let it fry for a min. Once onion turned little pinkish add turmeric powder, tomatoes, crushed jaggery (only little for taste), chilli powder and little water. Mix well and leave it to boil.
  3. Finally add salt, garnish with coriander leaves boil for 3 min thn serve it with dosa or chapati or with steamed rice.
