Batata Vada (Marathi: बटाटा वडा) is a popular Indian vegetarian fast food in Maharashtra, India. It literally means potato fritters.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 150 gm Chickpea flour (Besan)
  2. 250 gm Potatoes
  3. 2 tsp Garlic–Chili paste
  4. 3 tsp Lemon juice
  5. 2 tsp Sugar
  6. 3 tsp Coriander leaves (finely chop)
  7. 1 tsp Garam Masala
  8. 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  9. 1 tsp Red Chili powder
  10. 1 tsp Cumin powder
  11. Pinch of Asafetida
  12. Oil for frying
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Water according to requirement

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes well. Peel it and mash with hand.
  2. Add red chili powder, garam masala, sugar, salt, cumin powder, turmeric powder, lemon, garlic- chili paste, asafetida and coriander leave mix it well.
  3. Make small balls from the mixture.
  4. Make batter from chickpea flour, salt, 1 tsp lemon juice and water.
  5. Dip balls in to batter and fry in hot oil.
  6. Deep fry until become golden brown.
  7. Hot serve with date chutney, green chutaney.
