Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Kofta Ingredients:
  2. 2 pieces of raw bananas, boiled and then mashed
  3. 1 small sized onion, finely chopped
  4. 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  5. 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  6. 1/2 tsp ginger, smashed
  7. 2 green chillies, smashed
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Oil as required to deep fry
  10. Other Ingredients:
  11. 2 small sized onions, finely chopped
  12. 130 ml tomato puree
  13. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  14. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  15. 3 cardamoms
  16. 3 cloves
  17. 1 piece of cinnamon stick
  18. 1 tsp honey
  19. 2 tsp milk
  20. A pinch of sugar
  21. 50 ml fresh cream
  22. 50 ml ghee

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl, put in the listed kofta ingredients and mix them well together. Divide this mixture into 10-12 portions and shape them into koftas. Keep them aside.
  2. Heat oil as required in a kadhai/pan, once the oil is hot, deep fry these koftas in batches till they turn golden brown in colour. Drain on paper towels so that the excess oil is absorbed.
  3. Heat ghee in a separate pan, add in the cardamoms, cloves and cinnamon and the powdered spices.
  4. Once the spices pop, put in the turmeric powder and the chopped onions. Sauté and cook them for 2-3 minutes they turn into a beautiful golden brown colour.
  5. Next, put in the red chilli powder and salt to taste. Stir well then pour in the the tomato purée, let this simmer and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  6. Then pour in the cream and milk together, stir these ingredients so that they blend well. Simmer and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove this gravy from the heat, put in the honey and sugar and stir it well.
  7. Place the koftas on a serving dish then pour this gravy on top and serve it hot alongside rice.
