ABOUT Bread uttapam RECIPE

Bread uttapam is easy to make, tasty pancake which takes very little time to cook. Traditionally uttapam is a south Indian dish, made with soaked rice and lentil batter. Bread uttapam needs no fermentation, is made out of bread and yogurt, it tastes absolutely delicious. It can be served as breakfast or can be a tiffin recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. for batter
  2. Fresh bread - (hand crushed or use a grinder) 4 slices
  3. Yogurt - 2 tablespoons
  4. Water - as needed
  5. Refined flour - 1 tablespoon
  6. Salt - to taste
  7. Green chilli - 1
  8. Ginger paste - 1 teaspoon
  9. For toppings
  10. Chopped carrot - 1/2
  11. Chopped capsicum - 1
  12. Chopped coriander leaves - 1 teaspoon
  13. Chopped tomato - 1
  14. Chopped onion - 1
  15. Oil/ ghee - as needed

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients for the batter to a medium consistancy, making sure no lumps are formed. Heat a pan, add some oil/ghee.
  2. Pour a thick layer of the batter onto the pan.
  3. Place the toppings on the batter and roast it on both sides, on low flame.
  4. Bread uttapam is ready to serve.
