Ingredients to make Namkeen Karele

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp carrom seeds
  • 1/ 2 grated carrot
  • 1/2 finely chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying

How to make Namkeen Karele

  1. INTO 1 CUP WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, ADD 2 TBSP GRATED CARROT & 2 TBSP ONION
  2. ADD 1 TSP CUMIN SEEDS, 1 TSP CAROM SEEDS & SALT TO TASTE
  3. ADD 1 TBSP GHEE
  4. KNEAD INTO A STIFF DOUGH
  5. KEEP THE DOUGH TO REST FOR 15 MINS
  6. ROLL AND CUT EQUAL PORTIONS OF THE DOUGH
  7. ROLL INTO POORIS, MARK WITH LENGTHWISE CUTS, LEAVING THE EDGES
  8. ROLL & PINCH THEM ON THE SIDES, SHAPING INTO KARELAS
  9. DEEP FRY IN HOT OIL
  10. REMOVE FROM HEAT WHEN GOLDEN BROWN & CRISP, COOL & SERVE
