Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Flour 2 cups
  2. Sugar 2 x 3/4th cup
  3. Eggs 2 x 4
  4. Half bar of dark chocolate
  5. Cocoa powder 2 tablespoon
  6. Strawberry flavoring 2 to 3 drops
  7. Pink food colour 3 to 4 drops
  8. Vanilla essence 2 x 2-3 drops
  9. Baking powder 2 x 1.5 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Bake the first cake, dyed pink. We will be using one portion each, of all the ingredients that we have doubled in the list (x 2)
  2. Put your oven to pre-heat at 180 degrees C.
  3. In a bowl, mix butter and sugar and beat till sugar dissolves and butter looks white and fluffy. Use a hand blender if u have one!
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs very well. Set aside.
  5. Now mix some flour in the butter & sugar mixture- beat well! Then add some egg in the butter & sugar mixture -beat well! Continue this alternate cycle till u run out of flour and eggs.
  6. Color the batter pink with the food coloring (start with a small amount and then keep adding until you get the colour you want). After that, put 3-4 drops of vanilla essence and the strawberry flavoring each. Blend gently together.
  7. Add 1.5 teaspoon of baking powder in batter and give a final mix.
  8. Grease your baking tin with a thin layer of butter and also sprinkle some flour all over.
  9. Pour in the batter and bake for 30 mins at 180 degrees C, till the tooth-pick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  10. Once completely cooled, cut your cake into thick slices. Cut heart shapes out of the middle of the cake slices, with the help of the heart-shaped cookie cutter. Set the hearts aside.
  11. Now prepare your second cake. Repeat the same steps 1 -4 from cake 1.
  12. In the parallel, melt the chocolate bar in a microwave by heating it for around 20 seconds.
  13. Add the cocoa powder and melted dark chocolate to your batter and mix well. After that, put 3-4 drops of vanilla essence and 1.5 teaspoon of baking powder in batter and mix gently.
  14. Grease your loaf pan with a thin layer of butter and also sprinkle some flour all over.
  15. Now assemble everything to make your hidden heart cake. Place a very thin layer of batter on the bottom of the loaf pan to cover the entire surface.
  16. Carefully stack the hearts upright inside the pan in a straight line without spaces. If you are going to flip the cake, stack them upside down. They should be able to able to stand firmly on the batter. Gently press to the bottom of the pan!
  17. Fill your cake pan with the rest of the chocolate cake batter. Hearts should be entirely immersed in it. Use a rubber spatula to smooth the top surface.
  18. Bake for 40-50 mins at 180 degrees, until the tooth-pick immersed comes out clean.
  19. Cut the cake into slices and see the magic. Enjoy with your beloved!
