ABOUT Kanda Poha RECIPE

Kanda poha is a maharstrian recipe prepared using fkattend rice along with potato and peanuts. It is an extremly light food can be served as a breakfast. It is a healthy recipe to पैक for kids lunch box as well as it keeps good for a few hours packed in a box. Poha comes in a variety of thickness I personally prefer thick variety to make Kanda Poha. The only thing change while cooking with different thickness of poha is the time it is soaked in water. Make sure the poha is soaked well in water yet not mushy to make perfect Kanda Poha. You can also add vegetables of your choice to Kanda Poha and make it even healthier. This dish can be served along with Indian masala tea this is Mumbai street food or breakfast recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Poha washed 3 cups
  2. Big onion /kanda 2
  3. Fried peanuts 1/2 cup
  4. Green chilli chopped 3
  5. Corriender leaves chopped
  6. Curry leaves some
  7. Rai 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Jeera 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Sugar one teaspoon
  10. Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Lemon juice 1
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Oil 4 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. In 2 tablespoon hot oil, add 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  2. Add 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  3. Add onions and saute
  4. Add green chillies
  5. Add a sprig of curry leaves
  6. When the onion turns translucent,add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  7. Add red chilli powder
  8. Add washed and soaked poha
  9. Mix and add 1-2 teaspoon of lemon juice
  10. Add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
  11. Add salt to taste
  12. Add a fistful of coriander leaves
  13. Add peanuts and take off the heat
  14. Serve hot.
