Loaded with awesomeness of cocoa powder, choco chips and chocolate syrup, this cake makes for a super-decadent dessert for those who shy away from cream & frosting and simply prefer the rustic beauty of naked cakes. Furthermore, it has an extra ingredient - the luscious cream cheese which makes it super soft and melt-in-mouth. Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. All purpose flour (maida) - 1 1/4 cup
  2. Cocoa powder - 1/2 cup
  3. Butter (soft, at room temperature) - 3/4 cup
  4. Cream cheese - 1/2 cup
  5. Vanilla essence - 1 teaspoon
  6. Powdered sugar - 1 cup
  7. Chocolate syrup - 1 tablespoon
  8. Chocolate chips - 1/4 cup
  9. Eggs - 3
  10. Baking powder - 2 teaspoon
  11. Baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon
  12. Salt - a pinch

Instructions

  1. First sift maida, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Keep aside.
  2. Next cream butter and sugar together until the mixture turns turns pale. You can do it manually or use an electric hand mixer.
  3. Next add in cream cheese and vanilla essence; mix in with the creamed butter mixture well.
  4. Now add in the eggs one by one, whisking the batter for 2 to 3 seconds after each addition.
  5. Next, add in the chocolate syrup. Again give a good whisk.
  6. Fold in the dry mixture to the batter in 3 batches. Do not over mix the batter.
  7. In the end, fold in choco chips and transfer the mixture to a 8 to 9 inch baking sheet.
  8. Pop it in 180 degree centigrade pre-heated oven and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes or until the tooth-pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool down on a wire rack. Sprinkle with some cocoa powder on the top and serve warm with some fresh fruits, a drizzle of chocolate syrup or a dollop of vanilla ice-cream.
