ABOUT kalakand RECIPE

kalakand is a very traditional and delicious dessert, made with whole milk and is soft and grainy in texture

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Milk 1 litre
  2. sugar 1/2 cup
  3. Crumbled cottage cheese/paneer 150grams
  4. cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon
  5. almonds and saffron for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Boil the milk in a heavy pan over medium heat stirring occasionally untill the milk reduces to about one cup
  2. Add the paneer, sugar and cardamom powder in the milk and keep stirring till the mixture thickens and form a soft dough consistency
  3. When the mixture becomes soft lump and start leaving the pan from sides, turn off the flame
  4. Pour it over a greased plate
  5. Sprinkle saffron and garnish with almonds
  6. Let it cool for about one hour
  7. Cut the kalakand in squares and serve
