  2. Wholewheat flour 1 cup
  3. Cocoa powder 2 tablespoon
  4. Baking powder 1 and 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Sugar 1/3 cup
  6. Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon
  7. Butter milk 3/4 cup
  8. Vegetable oil 1/4 cup
  9. To prepare the black grape compote:
  10. Black grapes 1 cup
  11. Water 1/2 cup
  12. Sugar 1/3 cup

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean the black grapes well.
  2. Deseed them.
  3. In a saucepan, add the grapes, sugar and water and allow to boil for 15 minutes.
  4. Stir in between.
  5. Once done, switch the flame off and allow to cool down completely.
  6. In another bowl, whisk the egg and sugar together, until light and creamy.
  7. Next add in 3/4 cup wholewheat flour, baking powder, sugar, 1/2 cup butter milk, vanilla essence and oil.
  8. Again beat until well combined.
  9. Now divide the batter into three parts.
  10. Keep one part as is, which would be our vanilla flavor part.
  11. To the second part, add 2 tablespoon cocoa powder and whisk.
  12. Add little butter milk if the batter becomes thick. keep it aside.
  13. Now gently crush the black grape compote in a grinder.
  14. And sieve the mixture to extract the syrup.
  15. Next, to the third part of the batter, add the grape syrup (1/4 cup).
  16. Whisk and add little more wholewheat flour to make the batter thick.
  17. Now grease the waffle mould with oil. Be sure to place the waffle mould on a baking tray before you pour the batter for the ease of handling. By doing so, you could easily place the mould inside the oven. Otherwise, the batter may spill.
  18. Preheat the oven to 200 degree centigrade
  19. First pour the chocolate batter to one end of the mould using a spoon.
  20. Next add the grape batter to the other end of the moulds.
  21. Finally add the vanilla batter to the middle of the moulds.
  22. Gently tap on the counter.
  23. Once the oven reaches the temperature, preheat to 180 degree centigrade.
  24. Now bake the waffles in 180 degree centigrade for 30 minutes.
  25. Soon it would have easily come off the sides. So flip them to a greased baking tray.
  26. Again preheat the oven to 200 degree centigrade and bake the other side of the waffles for 5 minutes.
  27. Once done, allow to cool a bit.
  28. Drizzle honey, or melted chocolate or black grape compote on top.
  29. Your healthy treat is ready!!
