ABOUT Twisted Pizza RECIPE

This is a super quick version of pizza, perfect for a weekend snack for the kiddos

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. FOR PIZZA DOUGH
  2. Flour 2 cups
  3. Active dry yeast 1tablesppon
  4. Water (use as needed)
  5. Olive oil 11/2 tablespoon
  6. Salt as per taste
  7. Sugar 3/4 tablespoon
  8. For pizza sauce
  9. Tomatoes 400 grams
  10. Garlic cloves 10 (chopped finely)
  11. sugar 1teaspoon
  12. Red chili flacks 2 teaspoon
  13. Oregano 1teaspoon
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Black pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
  16. Oil 11/2 teaspoon
  17. Chicken (boiled with ginger garlic paste and crushed with a fork)
  18. Mozzarella cheese 50 grams

Instructions

  1. For Pizza Dough
  2. Add yeast and sugar to luke warm water and stir it. Set aside for 10 to 15 minutes and allow to proof.
  3. If the water doesn’t turn frothy by then, the yeast is inactive and cannot be used for the dough. In this case discard and start afresh with luke warm water, sugar and yeast.
  4. When the water turns frothy, add flour, salt and oil. Mix and make a dough adding more water if needed. Knead the dough very well until very soft and pliable for about 5 to 7 minutes. Apply a thin layer of oil and keep covered in a bowl.
  5. For Pizza Sauce
  6. Meanwhile prepare the tomato pizza sauce. To make sauce, heat oil in a pan and saute garlic until it smells good. Then add red chili flakes and then onions if using. Saute until they turn slightly golden.
  7. Add tomato puree, salt and sugar. Stir and continue to cook covering partially as it splatters a lot. Cook until the sauce thickens. Add herbs, crushed pepper and boiled chicken in it. Mix and set aside to cool.
  8. For making pizza
  9. Take prepared dough, divided into two equal size. sprinkle flour and roll out the two dough in round shape with rolling pin.
  10. Place the two sheets of pizza on top of each other on the baking tray. Cut out equal size circles, then remove the top sheet and set aside. On the bottom pizza sheet, spread the pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  11. Place the other sheet of pizza back on top.
  12. Take a glass and place it in the center of the pizza circle. Using a knife or scissors, slice the pizza into pie-wedge-shaped strips.
  13. Moving away from the edge of the glass toward the edge of the pizza circle. Continue until you’ve moved all the way around the pizza circle.
  14. Take each pizza strip and twist. Sprinkle black sesame seeds on the middle of the pizza. Brush the egg wash over the top of the twisted puff pastry, including the flat center circle. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown.
