ABOUT Homemade sundried tomatoes RECIPE

One of the quintessential ingredients in so many world cuisines. A must have for people who do not compromise when it comes to the flavour of the dish. I have not literally sun dried them, you will require an oven.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. tomatoes - 1 kg
  2. salt
  3. olive Oil (Optional)
  4. chilli Flakes (Optional)
  5. Basil (Optional)
  6. Ground pepper (Optional


  1. Preheat oven at 100 degrees C.
  2. Line the the baking tray with a non stick parchment paper.
  3. Wash the tomatoes nicely. Cut them in half and with your fingers gently scoop out the seeds and place them on the baking tray.
  4. Sprinkle with some salt and other spices if using any.
  5. Bake at less than 100 degree C temperature till the tomatoes develop a leathery texture. This could take all day or 7 to 8 hours.
  6. Smaller pieces will require less oven time so make sure you chose similarly sized, fresh and firm tomatoes.

If making in oven then why calling it Sun-Dried... Call it oven dried tomatoes...
