A savoury flatbread made with coconut and flour, this is eaten mostly at breakfast and sometimes at tea time

Sri Lankan Pol Roti

Ingredients to make Sri Lankan Pol Roti

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 green chillies choped
  • 1 cup coconut grated
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 10 curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • water to knead
  • oil to grease the hands

How to make Sri Lankan Pol Roti

  1. In a bowl mix together the coconut, green chilli, onion, salt and curry leaves. Squeeze out the excess water.
  2. Add all the flour in together. Knead adding more water as required into a stiff dough. Keep aside for 5 minutes.
  3. Grease your hands and then pinch out a piece of the dough. Flatten and roll into a thin roti on a floured surface.
  4. Roast the roti on medium flame until brown on either sides. Eat with whatever you'd like
