These doughnut-like pastry sprinkled with icing sugar are amazing little bites

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 1/2 tsp dried active yeast
  2. 500 grams flour
  3. 1/4 cup water
  4. 60 grams granulated sugar
  5. zest of two lemons
  6. 80 grams butter, melted
  7. 4 Eggs
  8. 1/4 tsp Salt
  9. Oil for frying
  10. Icing sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast and water together. Keep aside until frothy almost 15 minutes.
  2. In a bowl add flour, eggs, butter, lemon zest, sugar and salt . Add yeast to it and stir with a spoon until the mix is wet. Start kneading with the hand until the dough is smooth about 5 minutes.
  3. Oil a bowl and empty out the dough. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface . Cut the dough into shapes that you'd like.
  5. Heat oil and fry the bugnes on medium heat until golden brown. Drain. And dust with icing sugar and serve.
