ABOUT Thekua without Mould RECIPE

Special dish of Bihar which is made during Chhath Puja. Usually it is made with jaggery but I have used sugar.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Wheat flour 200 gm
  2. sugar 250 gm
  3. cardamom powder ¼ spoon
  4. Grated dry coconut ¼ cup
  5. Fennel seeds 1 spoon
  6. Crushed black pepper ¼ spoon
  7. Ghee 20 gm approx. Or malai 1½ cup
  8. water ¼ cup
  9. oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Dissolve sugar in warm water
  2. In a big bowl take wheat flour
  3. Add all fennel seeds,cardamom powder,black pepper,grated coconut
  4. Add ghee or malai
  5. Mix well
  6. Add sugar water
  7. Make a fine dough
  8. It should not be more tight or loose
  9. Make small balls
  10. Take 1 ball on palm and press it
  11. Make design with fork
  12. If you have mould you can use mould
  13. Heat oil
  14. Fry thekua on medium flame
