Ingredients to make Kolkata style fish fry

  • FOR MARINADE:
  • Fish fillet 6 pieces (3" long)
  • ginger paste 2 tsp
  • garlic paste 1 1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • Black pepper 1 tsp
  • lemon juice 2 tsp
  • Green chili paste 1/2 tsp
  • FOR BATTER:
  • egg 1 large
  • cornflour 5 tbsp
  • Black pepper 1/2 tsp
  • salt
  • water to make a thick batter
  • FOR COATING:
  • Bread crumbs around 1 1/2 cup
  • oil for deep frying

How to make Kolkata style fish fry

  1. Clean the fillets and marinade for one hour with all those marinade ingredients.
  2. Make a thick batter with batter ingredients.
  3. Batter should not be flowy.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.
  5. After one hr take out 1 fillet from marinade.
  6. Dip it in batter.
  7. Cover with bread crumb.
  8. Deep fry both side until golden brown.
  9. Serve hot with mustard sauce, onion and ketchup.

My Tip:

When frying the fillets after 2 min low the flame because the bread crumbs tend to burn very quickly. Cook it in medium flame until well cooked from inside.
