ABOUT Rava Idli RECIPE

so much faster than rice idlis and just as yummy!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 1/2 cups rava/semolina
  2. 1 1/2 cups curd
  3. 1/2 tsp sodium bicarbonate
  4. 1/4 cup water
  5. 1 tablespoon oil
  6. 1 tablespoon roasted cashewnuts/peanuts chopped
  7. 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  8. salt acc to taste
  9. 1/4 tsp very finely chopped ginger

Instructions

  1. Take a large bowl and add curd and whisk it for 7-8 minutes.Now add rawa to it and mix well.
  2. Keep stirring the mixture and slowly add water and salt .Mix well and keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Now add coriander leaves, ginger, cashews/peanuts and bicarbonate soda and mix lightly.
  4. Grease the idli moulds with some oil and pour a tablespoon or so of idli batter and place the idli stand in the boiler/cooker.
  5. Cover the lid and boil for 10-12 minutes, if using pressure cooker then steam without the whistle for same time.Serve hot idlis with sambhar or coconut chutney.

Rava(Sooji) contains gluten. Semolina is a form of wheat and therefore not safe for those who follow a gluten-free diet. ... Other names for wheat are durum, farina, einkorn, bulgar, cake flour, matzo and couscous.
