ABOUT Apple and Walnut Fritters/Pakoras with Cinnamon (Vegan and Gluten Free) RECIPE

Crispy Apple Fritters or Pakoras with crunchy walnuts and aromatic cinnamon.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. ½ cup rice flour
  2. 4 tbsp chickpea flour/besan
  3. 4 tbsp cornflour
  4. 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 2 to 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  7. 1 cup peeled and chopped apples
  8. ½ cup chopped walnuts
  9. Oil for deep frying
  10. Extra powdered sugar and cinnamon for garnishing

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients except apples, walnuts and oil. Add enough water to make a thick but flowing batter.
  2. Do a taste test and adjust the amount of salt and sugar according to your taste. Heat oil for deep frying.
  3. Stir in chopped apples and walnuts into the batter and give it a good mix. The batter should coat the apples and walnuts and if too thin, stir in some cornstarch or chickpea flour.
  4. If the batter is too thick, add some water. Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of apple batter into the oil and reduce heat.
  5. Fry on medium heat until crispy and golden brown. Drain on oil-absorbent paper-lined plates.
  6. Serve hot, crispy cinnamon flavored apple and walnut fritters or pakoras immediately, sprinkled with extra sugar and cinnamon (optional). Enjoy with a cup of chai or coffee!!
