Ingredients to make Morula Maacher Bora (Small Fish (Mola Carplet) Pakora / Fritters - Bengali Style

  • 1 cup morula mach (Mola Carplet - Fresh River water Fish)
  • 1/2 cup masoor dal (red lentils) soaked for 3-4 hours
  • 2 tbsp. rice flour
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1-2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tsp. ginger-garlic, grated
  • handful of coriander leaves, chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp. roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tsp. nigella seeds (kalonji)
  • 1/2 tsp. red chili flakes
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper powder
  • 1 tsp. mustard oil
  • oil to deep fry

How to make Morula Maacher Bora (Small Fish (Mola Carplet) Pakora / Fritters - Bengali Style

  1. Marinate the fish with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder for 10 minutes. Grind the masoor dal with very less water and mix along with all the above mentioned ingredients (except oil).
  2. Heat oil and drop spoonfuls of the mix into it and fry on a medium flame till golden in colour. Drain on a kitchen towel and serve as an appetizer with any chutney or kasundi (mustard sauce)
