ABOUT Colocasia steams mash RECIPE

colocasia are very high in Iron and are very benificail for heath. Besides its rich in nutrition, it contains folate which is essential for the development of your fetal brain and nervous system. However, you should cook the taro leaves/stems well before you eat them.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Colocasia stems and leaves
  2. Mustard Oil for frying - 3-4 teaspoon
  3. garlic 1 medium crushed
  4. ginger crushed
  5. 1 medium onion chopped
  6. 2 dried whole red chilli
  7. Black pepper powder
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Turmeric powder - a pinch

Instructions

  1. cut and clean the colocasia leaves and stems
  2. in a pressure cooked add the colocasia and 2 cups of water and give 2 whistles
  3. drain the water and keep aside
  4. in an iron wok heat mustard oil
  5. add the whole red chillie
  6. add the chopped onion ginger and garlic and saute well
  7. add the boiled colocasia into it and saute well
  8. add salt turmeric and pepper powder and cook for 7-8 mins
  9. serve with steamed rice
