ABOUT Curd Rice RECIPE

Creamy seasoned rice mixed with yoghurt

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 tbsp oil
  2. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  3. 1 small onion, finely chopped
  4. 1 tsp ginger, minced
  5. 1-2 jalapeno peppers, diced
  6. 1-2 dry red chiles, broken in half
  7. 1 tsp masoor dal/orange lentils
  8. 1 sprig curry leaves
  9. 2.5 cups cooked white rice
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 2 cups plain low fat yogurt
  12. 1/2 cup Milk

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan. splutter mustard leaves, add onions. Saute onions until translucent. Add in ginger, jalapeno, red chilies. saute for a minute
  2. Add masoor dal and saute until crisp. Add curry leaves. Mix well. Switch off. Add in rice and salt. Combine well.
  3. Whip yogurt and milk together in a bowl until you get a smooth consistency. Combine yogurt mix with seasoned rice thoroughly. Serve warm
