Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Green chili/jalapeno - 5 - 6
  2. Finely chopped onion - 2 tbsp
  3. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  4. Peanuts - 2 tbsp
  5. Poppy seeds - 2 tbsp
  6. Coconut powder - 2 tbsp
  7. Red chili powder - 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Tamarind paste - 1 tsp
  11. Jaggery - 1 tsp
  12. Salt - to taste
  13. Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  14. Black mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  15. Curry leaves - 5 - 6
  16. Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp
  17. Oil - 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the peanuts,poppy seeds and coconut powder separately. Allow to cool and grind them to paste
  2. Slit the jalapeno and de-seed it.Dry pop up the green chilly.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter cumin seeds and black mustard seeds.
  4. Add finely chopped onion, curry leaves and saute for one min.
  5. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for few seconds
  6. Add salt,turmeric powder,red chili powder,garam masala powder,jaggery and tamarind paste and mix well.
  7. Add ground paste and half cup of water and cook on a high flame.
  8. Add jalapeno and coriander leaves and cook for two mins. Serve hot with biryani or naan

Coconut powder gives a different flavour to this.
