Peas Tahini Dip

Ingredients to make Peas Tahini Dip

  • 3/4 cup tender green peas or frozen baby peas
  • 1/2 cup coriander, chopped
  • 1 heaped tablespoon tahini
  • 3 small cloves of garlic
  • 1 green chili
  • 2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil -adjust
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt (optional)
  • a few drops of lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • sesame seeds, pomegranate arils and extra virgin olive oil to garnish

How to make Peas Tahini Dip

  1. If using fresh peas blanch and drain well. If using frozen peas thaw and drain properly.
  2. In a chutney jar/mixer jar, grind the garlic, chili and tahini. Grind well to get a homogeneous mix.
  3. To the mix add the drained peas, coriander and salt. Grind to a smooth paste. Optionally add a tablespoon of yogurt/oil to ease the grinding.
  4. Add oil and lemon juice and grind well
  5. Transfer the dip in to a serving bowl, pour little olive oil and sprinkle little sesame seeds on the top.

My Tip:

I have used olive oil to ease the grinding and hence the colour has remained refreshingly green. If you choose to use yogurt the colour will pale down a bit.

Can I use refined oil in the place of olive oil?

won't give same taste but you can try any neutral oil like canola or vegetable
