Spicy Methi Fish

Ingredients to make Spicy Methi Fish

  • Large Fish pieces - 4
  • fenugreek leaves 3 cups packed
  • 3 large onion sliced
  • tomato 1 chopped
  • ginger paste 1 teaspoon
  • garlic paste 1/2 teaspoon
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • ghee 2 tsp
  • Green chili slit 6
  • mustard oil for frying
  • 2 tbsp oil

How to make Spicy Methi Fish

  1. Marinate the fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder and rest for 15 minutes
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Shallow fry the fish until done
  3. Heat oil in another pan. Add sliced onion and saute until browned
  4. Now add methi leaves and cook until they wilt
  5. Add chopped tomato and cook for 5 minutes
  6. Add 1/2 cup water and allow to cool completely. Grind to form smooth paste
  7. Add spices,salt and sugar to ground puree and cook for 3-4 minutes
  8. Add the fish pieces , sprinkle little water
  9. Cook covered for 5 minutes.
  10. Add slit green chili and ghee on top. Switch off
  11. Keep the fish fry covered until ready to be served

Doesn't methi turns bitter if u make paste out of it. I think instead of grinding slow gas cooking will work better.
