This is a heirloom recipe that my maternal grandmother used to make and is a simple yet delicious recipe for a yummy pulao

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 400g potatoes peeled
  2. 1 bunch of mint leaves
  3. 1 bunch of curry leaves
  4. 4-5 green chilies
  5. 3-4 teaspoon sliced ginger
  6. salt to taste
  7. 2 cups cooked basmati rice
  8. 3-4 spoons ghee
  9. 1 cup cashew nuts
  10. Spices - 3-4 elaichi
  11. 4-5 coves
  12. 1 bay leaf
  13. 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  14. 3 cups peas
  15. Small bunch of cauliflower
  16. 3 cups water
  17. 1 cup finely chopped onions


  1. Cut the potatoes into large cubes
  2. Add a cup of water in a pan and cook the vegetables for 10 minutes
  3. Blend curry leaves, ginger, mint , green chilies to smooth paste
  4. Add this mixture to vegetables and cook
  5. Add salt and mix well
  6. Cook rice separately. Add veggies to rice and gently mix. Keep it aside
  7. In a separate pan , add the ghee and saute onions and whole spices until onions are tender
  8. Add onion seasoning to pulao and Gently mix. serve hot
