ABOUT Bangers and Mash RECIPE

Bangers and mash is quick and easy. Favourite among children. A very popular English and Irish dish.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 tbsp Vegetable oil/olive oil
  2. 4 Sausages pork/beef
  3. 500 g Potatoes peeled
  4. 100 g Butter
  5. Salt and pepper for seasoning
  6. 2 Onions peeled and sliced
  7. 2 tbsp Vegetable oil/olive oil
  8. 1 tbsp Sugar
  9. 1 tbsp Vinegar
  10. 2 tbsp Cornflour
  11. 2 tbsp Cold water
  12. 400 ml Beef/pork stock

Instructions

  1. Add 2 tbsp oil to the pan, fry the sausages until they are cooked and brown from all sides. Keep them warm.
  2. Boil the potatoes and mash them in a bowl. Add butter, salt and pepper and keep aside.
  3. In another pan, add 2 tbsp oil, add the sliced onions. Cover with a lid and cook until onions are soft.
  4. Add sugar, vinegar to onions and cook for 2-3 mins.
  5. Add the stock to the onions and boil for another 5 mins.
  6. Mix cornflour with cold water and add to the onion stock mixture. Add salt and pepper for seasoning. Cook until sauce thickens.
  7. On a serving plate, put broiled sausages, on the side put mashed potatoes and pour over onion gravy. Serve hot.
