Methi Kadhi

Ingredients to make Methi Kadhi

  • Fresh methi leaves 1/2 cup
  • curd 1 cup
  • gram flour 3 tbsp
  • Green chili 2 chopped
  • ginger paste 1/8 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil 2-3 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Whole red chili 1
  • curry leaves 5-6
  • Chopped Coriander and fresh methi 1 tsp

How to make Methi Kadhi

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter cumin seeds, asafoetida and saute for a while. Add turmeric powder, finely chopped green chili, ginger paste and saute for 2 minutes.
  2. Now add finely chopped methi leaves and little water.Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Cook until the leaves get tender.
  3. Add curd and gram flour in mixing bowl and whisk well until its lump free . Add 2.5 cup of water and mix well.Now add curd mix to curry and mix well
  4. Simmer and cook over medium flame for 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Add salt and mix well
  5. Heat a pan with 1 tsp oil, add curry leaves, whole red chili and saute for few seconds. Switch off. Add red chili powder and pour this tempering over the kadhi. Garnish with chopped coriander and fresh methi leaves.
  6. Serving kadhi warm with matar,mint rice or roti/ paratha
