Ingredients to make Sai Bhaji

  • spinach 400 gm , washed and chopped
  • coriander leaves 1/3 cup ,chopped
  • fenugreek (methi) leaves 2 tbsp
  • Dil leaves optional (Sua) - 4
  • onions 1 small chopped
  • tomatoes 2 big chopped
  • Green chilies 2 chopped
  • ginger 1/2 inch grated
  • chana dal 1/4 cup soaked for at least 2 hours
  • turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • coriander powder 2 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • garlic 5 cloves chopped
  • oil 2 tbsp

How to make Sai Bhaji

  1. In a pressure cooker, add chopped spinach, fresh coriander , methi leaves, onion, tomatoes , ginger and green chilies.
  2. Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt, red chili powder.
  3. Add 1/2 cup water and mix everything well
  4. Pressure cook for 2 whistles over medium flame.
  5. Once pressure is released open the cooker and slightly mash the spinach.
  6. Add chana dal with little more water and mix
  7. Pressure cook for 15 minutes over low flame.
  8. Heat oil in a pan and saute garlic till light brown and aromatic
  9. Add garlic with oil over sai bhaji and mix well
  10. Serve hot with roti, pulao or khichdi.
