Ingredients to make Lotus Stems Spring Onions Sabji

  • 250g lotus stems
  • 1/2 kg spring onions , finely chopped
  • finely chopped 3 tomatoes
  • 2 green chilies , finely chopped
  • finely chopped green garlic cloves - 2
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 5 tablespoon oil

How to make Lotus Stems Spring Onions Sabji

  1. Wash the lotus stems thoroughly under the running water. Pat dry on towel and peel it. Cut the stems into small round disc.
  2. Heat oil in pan, splutter cumin seeds. Add lotus stems and cook until it changes color
  3. Add chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies , spice powders and mix well
  4. Cover and cook on low flame for 20 to 25 minutes
  5. Add finely chopped green garlic and mix well. Cook for 5 more minutes
  6. Serve hot with white rice or roti
