Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Colocasia leaves 30
  2. Rice 1 cup
  3. Urad dal 2 tbsp
  4. Chana dal 2 tbsp
  5. Red chilies 7
  6. Tamarind lemon sized ball
  7. Asafoetida 1/2 pinch
  8. Curry leaves 7-8
  9. Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
  10. Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
  11. Refined oil 1 tsp
  12. Grated coconut 1 tbsp
  13. Salt as per taste
  14. Jaggery 1 lemon sized

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak rice for 1 hour. Drain excess water and keep it aside
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add coriander seeds, urad dal, chana dal, cumin seeds, curry leaves .
  3. Roast until aromatic. Add hing and mix well. Allow mixture to cool
  4. Grind rice to smooth paste. Add grated coconut,tamarind, jaggery, adequate water and roasted spices and grind to form fine paste
  5. Take colocasia leaf, reverse it. Spread ground paste evenly on the leaf. Take another leaf, reverse it and place leaf on the first one. Spread paste on it. Repeat the process and stack leaves. Each stack should contain 5-6 leaves
  6. Roll the leaves and pressure cook leaves for 5 whistles
  7. Serve hot.
