This is my mother's recipe and she makes it for me whenever I visit her.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Whole wheat flour 250 gms
  2. Green peas, 1 1/4 cup
  3. Groundnuts 1/3 cup
  4. Green chilies 1-2
  5. Ginger, grated 1/4 tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Water as required
  8. Oil / Ghee to drizzle - as required


  1. In a large bowl, add whole wheat flour, salt and enough water. Knead into a smooth dough
  2. Cover and rest dough for 30 minutes
  3. Grind the groundnuts to a coarse powder and set it aside
  4. Grind green peas, ginger and green chilies to a coarse paste without adding water.
  5. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan. Add green peas paste and mix well
  6. Add half the groundnut powder , salt and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes and switch off
  7. Add more groundnut powder if peas mixture is still very moist, peas mix should be reasonably dry
  8. Set the mixture aside to cool. If the mixture is too dry then add 1 tsp water at a time to get it to the right consistency
  9. Heat a tava / frying pan
  10. Divide wheat dough into 6 equal parts and shape each into a smooth ball
  11. Roll balls into parathas. Add filling at center, bring the dough together around it and seal tightly
  12. Gently roll out the stuffed dough into circle
  13. Place it on hot tawa and cook on both sides until golden brown. Drizzle ghee/oil on top and edges
  14. Serve hot with pickle, curds, raita or dal of your choice.
