ABOUT Andhra fish pulusu RECIPE

Traditional receipe of an Andhra fish curry. Spicy and flavourfull with main spice red hot chillies.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Maga/ salmon fish- 1 1/2 kg
  2. Tamarind - 2 lemon sized balls( soaked in 2 cups of water)
  3. For the Masala :
  4. Whole red chillies - 15
  5. Onions - 2 medium
  6. Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  7. Water - 1 /2 cup to grind
  8. Tempering :
  9. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  10. Red Chillies - 2
  11. Onion - 1 medium
  12. Curry leaves - 3 to 4 sprigs
  13. Coriander - 1 small bunch
  14. Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Oil sufficient

Instructions

  1. Wash fish thoroughly and keep aside
  2. Add 3 tbsps of oil to a deep sauce pan
  3. Temper with mustard seeds and red chillies
  4. Add the onions chopped into circles
  5. Saute till slightly browned
  6. Now add the fish peices and turmeric. Cover with a lid and toss gently
  7. Now add the ground masala paste
  8. Add the tamarind paste and curry leaves.
  9. Add sufficient water and season with salt
  10. Stir with a wooden laddle gently to avoid breaking the fish
  11. Add some coriander
  12. Let it come to a boil on medium flame. Simmer for 5 minutes. Garnish with more coriander.
  13. Serve with steamed rice
