ABOUT Rava Handvo- Savory Cake RECIPE

Handvo is a gujrati dish prepared using rice flour and mixed lentils. This recipe is made from rava and can be prepared instantly and also very tasty.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rava 200 gms
  2. Grated Lauki/ Dudhi 1/2 cup
  3. Oats powder 1/4 cup
  4. Grated Potato 1/2 cup
  5. Curd 100 gms
  6. Peanuts 2 tbsp
  7. Haldi 1/2 tsp
  8. Sugar 1/2 tsp
  9. Kashmiri lal mirch 1 piece
  10. Sesame seeds 1 tsp
  11. 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  12. 1 tsp ginger paste
  13. Cilantro chopped
  14. Lime juiced 1 tsp
  15. Eno 1 tsp
  16. Oil for tempering
  17. Cumin seeds
  18. Mustard seeds
  19. Curry leaves
  20. Salt as required

Instructions

  1. 1. Soak rava in curd for half an hour. Add green chilli, ginger paste, salt, grated lauki/dudhi, grated potato, peanuts, chopped cilantro, haldi/turmeric, sugar, lime juice after half an hour and mix well and leave for 15 mins.
  2. 2. For tempering switch on gas and in a tempering vessel add oil, sesame seeds, kashmiri lal mirch, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves and once the seeds splutter switch off the gas and add this tempering to the above prepared rava mixture.
  3. 4. Taste the mixture and add salt if required. Now add eno and mix.
  4. 5. In a non stick wok switch on gas and add 1 tbsp oil and let it bcm warm. Once warm add the rava mixture as prepared above and cover the wok.
  5. 6. Let it cook for 15 minutes and then check. The base of the mixture will have formed a crust turn it over and let the upper side cook for 5 mins.
  6. 7. Both the sides will be cooked having a crispy crust while the inside will be soft.
  7. 8. Serve hot with green chutney and sauce.
