Home-made kachoris with flavorful stuffing of potatoes seasoned with the few choicest ingredients.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For batter: Besan (gram) flour - 2 cups
  2. Salt - to taste
  3. Soda bicarb - 1/4 tsp
  4. Roasted zeera powder - 2/3 tsp
  5. Water - 1 cup
  6. For filling : Potatoes - 4
  7. Ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
  8. Green chili paste - 1/2 tsp
  9. Salt - to taste
  10. Coriander leaves - few
  11. Lemon - 1
  12. Curry leaves - few
  13. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  14. Rai (mustard seeds) - 1/4 tsp
  15. Oil - 2 tsp & to deep fry

Instructions

  1. For batter: Add all the ingredients to gram flour and make a thick batter and keep aside.
  2. For filling: Boil potatoes and mash them. Then add ginger paste, chili paste, salt, coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well.
  3. Heat 2 tsp oil, when hot add mustard seeds, curry leaves and turmeric powder and add this to the potato mixture.
  4. Mix well and shape into small balls applying a little oil on your palms to prevent potato mixture from sticking to your hands.
  5. For kachoris: Heat oil in a kadhai, dip each ball in the batter and deep fry until golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
