Dates are a good source of various vitamins and minerals, energy, sugar, and fiber. It also contains calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium. Lentils are rich in nutrition. They are high in protein, low in fat and support our digestive system. A perfectly healthy nutrient rich meal for babies and toddlers

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. 2 tbn Chana daal
  2. 1 tbn jaggery powder
  3. 50 gm dates
  4. 5 tbn plain milk
  5. 1 tbn ghee
  6. 1-2 almonds blanched and sliced

Instructions

  1. Soak daal and dates for 30 minutes in warm water
  2. strain and keep the daal and reserve the date syrup
  3. in a saucepan, add milk and daal and let it come to boil
  4. once done, add the jaggery and mix well.
  5. Let the mix simmer on Low heat for 5-10 minutes till the daal is slightly soft, stirring occasionally, not to burn the ingredients
  6. Take of heat once done and let cool
  7. Add the entire ingredients into a blender and blend smooth
  8. Melt ghee in a saucepan and add the mix
  9. Add the date syrup and cook until the halwa/porridge has reached a desired consistency or the syrup has completely been absorbed
  10. Serve warm garnished with sliced almonds (optional)
